The vast amount of information in historical archives available though digital access can be interpreted using multimedia tools now universally available. It is exciting that candid accounts in historic newspapers can be the bally-wick of digital media management. Many accounts which would otherwise never make it into a book for lack of being supportive of a driving thesis statement  might more easily find an effective avenue for presentation in various digital forms.

This presentation started as an attempt to catalog and frame newspaper snippets encountered in digital searches. Even in finished form there is no claim of this being comprehensive; an amount of representative material is covered to sufficiently present a glimpse of a range of past accounts having taken place in the midst of today's geography. It has met its goal if the visitor gains a sense of the reality of the forgotten things which took place right under our feet in Baltimore's hour of preparation for invasion.
